You reach this impressive monument by the 90 steps of the Pera stairs. The cathedral with its imposing single nave, whose construction took place over several centuries, is considered the most beautiful monument of Catalan Baroque architecture, mixing Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance styles. The altar is a superb baldachin with a 14th century silver altarpiece. The Romanesque cloister (11th-12th centuries) has a double row of columns. The ancient bell tower of the church, which dates back to the 11th century, is in the Lombard Romanesque style.

I appreciated the discovery of this cathedral on one hand for its external architecture however for the historic richness of its interior. For families with young children or people who have difficulty walking, I would rather take the passage on the right of the cathedral than the steps.
Visit recommended Cathedral and all the neighbouring district for lovers of the old stones
