On Zhibek Zholy street, near the intersection with Pushkin street. The "green bazaar" is the largest in the city, and it is certainly here that you will find the most authentic, or in any case the most "rustic" atmosphere of Almaty. Fresh or dry fruits, spices, meat, herbs, clothing, fabrics, tools… Everything is sold and bought in this enormous bazaar behind which there is indeed a structured organization. Each part or district of the bazaar is reserved for a type of profession, where barges are sought by sellers, especially when this barge appears to come from the distant West. Here you will find everything you need to make travel arrangements or prepare picnics for mountain hikes. In the way of nomads, we recommend dried meat and smoked cheese, which will cost you cheaper than in the city's new supermarkets. On the other hand, be aware that, if Kazakhstan is out of the usual tourist trails, all tourists visiting the country visit this bazaar at least once. Traders are therefore used to doing business in euros or dollars, and used to surfacturer their products. Negotiate hard, and take advantage of the large number of stands to compete. There is, of course, a possibility of lunch on the spot, either by attending one of the very large tchaïkhanas or by making its small shopping in the salad radius, where you can use the «unconfortable» (often in plastic bags, think of taking your seats) that you will eat wandering through the aisles, for a meal on the thumb at a lower cost.

A voir absolument.
