AÉROPORT INTERNATIONAL D'ALMATY
Almaty International Airport is 12 km from the city centre, about 30 minutes by taxi. There are several buses connecting with the city: lines 439, 492 and 497. Taxis are waiting at the exit of the arrival hall. Count between 2,500 and 3,500 KZT for a trip to the centre. In the opposite direction, hotels generally charge 4,500 KZT. Almaty, much more than Astana, is a national and international air traffic hub.
Domestic flights serve Aktau, Aktobe, Astana, Atyrau, Karaganda, Kyzyl Orda, Pavlodar, Semey, Shymkent and Oust Kamenogorsk on a daily basis. On the most important routes, such as Aktau and Astana, Air Astana operates several flights per day.
The main international routes from Almaty include Amsterdam (four flights a week), Ashkabad (two to three flights a week), Baku (four flights a week), Bangkok (every day except Monday and Wednesday), Beijing (every day), Bishkek (daily), Dushanbe (daily), Frankfurt (daily), Istanbul (daily), Moscow (daily), Prague (three flights weekly), St Petersburg (four flights weekly), Tashkent (daily) and Urumqi (three flights weekly).
