The site itself is OK, but the reception has strange opening hours. We arrived at the campsite an hour early and an employee came to us without saying hello and said that we were not allowed to park in the visitor parking lot. He gave us a piece of paper with the address of a supermarket where we should park the vehicle. However, we received a confirmation from the CaMC that we could park there. It's a shame that this is not coordinated. We would have looked for another place. The toilets and washrooms also needed a bit of cleaning.
Sehr nettes Personal. Sehr empfehlenswert für alle diejenigen die einige Tage in London verbringen möchten. Mehrere Möglichkeiten mit Bus oder Bahn um zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erreichen. Wir kommen gerne wieder ;-)
Dated but functional. Understand reasoning for being unable to update and invest any money into the site. The location is good. Small walk to the train station and bus stop into London.
It's the location which makes this site special, as it's within easy walking distance of Crystal Palace (with its bars and restaurants) and multiple public transport options to take you into the city. The site itself is functional, and the toilet block is dated but clean. Overall a good site if you're visiting the area.
It's all about the location...the Site was nice and tidy with clean and warm facilities and friendly staff, bus no 3 into London stops nearby...by far the best London camp site.
This is a fantastic site in the heart of SE London. The site and facilities were very clean. 3min walk to Crystal Palace Park. 10 min walk to Crystal Palace Triagle which has everything you could need. If were ever in SE London again this is where we will stay!
Update: November 2023
Good location on the northern edge of Crystal Palace Park. Set in amongst lots of mature trees, the pitches are located on several loops off a road. There are two areas near to the office with flat grass pitches for tents.
The facilities are not the newest, but everything works well and is very clean (other site users permitting) and the toilet and shower blocks are warm and the water is hot. A pleasure to use. Dishwashing and black water disposal are outside and there is a campervan service area. These are all next to the toilet and shower blocks. There is a dog walking area on site.
There is a good selection of wildlife on site with urban foxes scouting for food (don't leave rubbish out or awnings unzipped!), lots of small birds, rooks, squirrels and green parakeets that you can always hear even if you can't see them.
The site is close to bus stops with good connections to town. The railway station and 'centre' of Crystal Palace (shops, restaurants, takeaways and bars) is about a fifteen minute walk away. For emergency purchases, there is a petrol station a short way along the road outside the site.
Being in town, this isn't the quietest site and concerts and events are held in the park and these can be loud, but they always end at 23.00. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs and check what events are taking place nearby. We got to hear some banging sets from acts performing at Wireless last summer, but it won't be to everyone's taste. The bass sounds were loud enough to get our VW resonating and buzzin'
We've stayed here lots of times and will continue to come back for as long as the site stays open - hopefully for many years to come.
Excellent location. Tired but clean facilities. The site is run by nice, friendly people who are very helpful. If you don't fancy the walk into town (walk in and bus back!) check out the number 3 bus route.
Great location to use as a base for a visit to London. Local public transport - buses and trains a walk away . Central London just an hour way via public transport and cheap too. We’ll kept as all club sites tend to be and set near the grounds if Crystal Palace . It’s is in the extended ULEZ zone so be aware. They are strict on entry after 1pm. We’ll worth a stay
Overpriced & the person that met us in was rude & purposefully unhelpful. The management were very nice & also shocked at his behaviour. Spoilt our stay .
Stayed for a brief 3 day London visit. lovely, peaceful, clean , well maintained site, wardens very helpful and informative from arrival. Easy access to central London,[ best option , No3 bus > Victoria{ 5 min walk) or Overground 20+ mins but hilly. Lots of places to eat (Crystal Palace Triangle) absolutely no issues, Looking forward to returning soon. There is a Mast very near to the site, we've heard there are some issues with some tv/mobile/motormover /interference but we had NO issues, fab few days , we will be back <3
Friendly very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend
