PALAZZO CENTURIONI
Palazzo Centurioni is located in the heart of Castiglione della Pescaia, within the walls that surround the medieval village.
In the old town stands the 15th-century Palazzo Centurioni, which belonged to the Republic of Pisa and was founded by the della Gherardesca, Gualani and Lanfranchi families. As early as 1447, Alfonso d'Aragona, King of Naples, decided to enlarge it. The building then passed into the hands of the Sienese, then the Florentines, the Spanish and the French, until in 1559 Cosimo I decided to acquire the island of Giglio, the ancient village and its palace. During the Medici reign, the palace became the court house. Today, it houses exhibitions.
