A church of Romanesque and Byzantine styles, one of the oldest religious buildings in Venice.
One of the oldest religious buildings in Venice. Its sober Romanesque exterior, richly decorated ceiling, Byzantine remains and 15th century additions make it a church of contrasts. One of the most striking features is the sixth-century green granite column from Roman Byzantium. Inside, one of the few works by Lorenzo Lotto in Venice, the altarpiece called Pala di San Giacomo dell'Orio, can be seen, as well as paintings by Palma il Giovane and Veronese.
