A sumptuous procession of boats to celebrate Venice's wedding to the sea, since 998!

"We marry you, O sea, as a pledge of loyal and lasting authority": this is what you will hear when the mayor of Venice throws a gold ring into the water, as he has done every year since 999 in memory of Venetian military campaigns and diplomatic skill. This is the festivity that evokes more than anything else the intimate bond that links Venice to the sea. On Ascension Day(Sensa in Venetian), a sumptuous procession of boats runs from San Marco to the Lido; the program is completed with Venetian voga competitions and other shows.
