In the heart of Venice, near the Rialto, Locanda Sturion offers 11 rooms in a house steeped in history, dating back to the ^14th century. The superb sign on the front of the house bears witness to this. All rooms are located on the third floor, without elevator, and are furnished with brocade fabrics and wallpaper in matching patterns, with splendid Murano glass chandeliers. The view of the Grand Canal from the breakfast room and the two junior suites is breathtaking. You'll be immersed in a warm, timeless, typically Venetian atmosphere.

Owner's Message

"Antica Locanda Sturion" is a three-star hotel located in the city's historic center, about 10 minute walking distance from Saint Mark's square. Overlooking the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge, it is just a few steps' from Rialto's picturesque morning market.

The hotel welcomes its guests to elegant rooms decorated in classic Venetian style, some overlooking the narrow street Calle del Sturion, some the venitian rooftops and two large family rooms in the front overlooking the Grand Canal.

Hotel Sturion is first heard of towards the end of the 13th century, where above the arch at Calle dello Sturion and overlooking the Grand Canal was the House with the same name which the Doge of Venice had specifically built to suit the comfort of foreign merchants taking their goods to the Market of Rialto.
Refurbished in the 14th century, the hotel reached the peak of its renown in the 15th century when celebrated navigators and traders and even seven Ambassadors from Friuli were among its guests.
In 1494, Vittore Carpaccio in his painting "The Miracle of the Cross", which can be seen at the Academy.
The inn was continually mentioned in a variety of historical texts through the end of the 18th century. It then became the private home of a wealthy Venetian family. In the 1950s, the inn resurfaced in the same place and with the same foundations that had seen seven hundred years of the "Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia"'s history.

Emplacement exceptionnel : hôtel situé à deux pas du pont « Rialto », chambre spacieuse et propre (chambre n° 8), au calme agrémentée de son charme vénitien. Nous avons apprécié l’accueil et la gentillesse du personnel. Petit déjeuner copieux avec vue sur le canal. Ein sehr schönes und gutes Hotel am Kanale Grande.
Frühstücksraum im dritten Stock mit Blick auf den Kanale Grande.
Wir hatten angrenzend ans Hotel eine kleine Wohnung. Sehr sauber und super schön.
Einzig, wenn man nicht so gut zu Fuss ist, eher nicht zu empfehlen. Aber sonst TOP.

Tout était parfait, le personnel était très sympathique. La personne à l’accueil parlait français et nous a donné de très bons conseils. Le petit déjeuner très copieux avec une salade de fruits frais. Nous avions la chambre 2 avec une vue sur le grand canal, température agréable, chambre propre… on reviendra. Ne convient pas aux personnes à mobilité réduite. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés.
