Imposing fortress in the small medieval town with a museum.
In the small medieval town of Exilles, the imposing fortress built in a strategic position in the center of the valley between the 15th and 18th centuries stands out. The present-day fort was rebuilt by the Savoy family between 1818 and 1829, following the demolition ordered by Napoleon. The building incorporates the many extensions that have been added over almost a thousand years of history, with battles fought for possession of this disputed rock between Savoie and Dauphiné. The museum retraces the various stages in the fort's construction.

Ce puissant fort couvre un grand rocher au milieu de la vallée, en bordure d’un vieux village de montagne aux rues serrées et maisons couvertes de lauzes. Une fois stationnés au pied, vous grimperez visiter cette immense forteresse remaniée au fil des âges et joliment restaurée (prévoir chaussures adaptées aux pierres glissantes), et admirerez les environs montagnes sur 360°. Vous découvrirez à travers quelques mises en scéne la vie d’une garnison de montagne. Plaira aux enfants.
