Still towards Tripoli, the fast lane runs through the village of Enfé. An ideal spot little known to tourists to make a quick stop. A castle took place in Enfé at the time of the crusades, occupying the peninsula north of the village. The site is accessed at the level of the cemetery by venturing in one-way streets. Almost nothing remains, only a few sections of walls and, above all, two ditches, one of which, 100 m long, cut the isthmus into water. Feel free to walk on the peninsula. Direct contact with nature, noise of waves and wind for company. In the last century, the site was entirely occupied by salines, which left many traces today. At random of the walk around the site, you will find cavities dug in the rock. The site is a private property belonging to the family of Saeb Salam, former Prime Minister, but this does not prevent free access.Enfé has been one of 100 worst damaged sites in the world. In this list we also find the valley of kings in Egypt and the Chinese wall.Enfé has 7 historic churches. The most impressive is Notre-Dame-du-Wind in the cemetery near the small coloured houses of the seafront. This small ruined chapel is one of the oldest in the region. It is buried by the exhaussement of the soil and retains some remnants of Byzantine murals.Enfé also allows to discover Mar Seaman and Mar Jackson, two churches of the th and th centuries, where des are incorporated into the ceiling to absorb echo. Mar Youhanna, church surrounded by curious rocks dug. Our Lady of Al Natour, located a little away north of Enfé near Salines offers a remarkable view of the village. The town has a small tourist circuit with informative panels.
