You will see the Naoufara mosque (located north of Riad el-Solh street, behind the Souk Bazerkane garden) which was built in 1620 by Amir Mounzer (Beirut inhabitants call it the Mounzer mosque). Its name An-Naoufara comes from the fountain in his courtyard. This mosque is located in the district that was for a long time the business centre of Beirut (with many bank headquarters). Today, several banks have returned to Riad el-Solh Street, but it is no longer a dominant destination in the financial world.
