One of the greatest achievements of Italian Romanesque art
Built in 1106, it is one of the greatest achievements of Italian Romanesque art. The interior of the Duomo houses two masterpieces. First of all, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin of Correggio (1526-1530), adorning the dome that seems to open onto a swirl of clouds populated by holy figures, in a remarkable trompe-l'oeil effect. Next, the bas-relief of the Descent from the Cross, dated 1178 and signed (which is quite unpublished for the time) by Benedetto Antelami, which is a precious testimony to the art of the 12th century.

Superb cathedral with a very impressive bell tower by its size and its very imposing architecture. The interior is richly decorated with superb paintings and gilding. With not lost the crypt which are accessed via a small staircase to the left of the heart.
