Founded in 1796, when Bologna was occupied by Napoleonic troops, it is the city's oldest chocolatier and one of the oldest in the country. Majani was even official supplier to the royal house of Savoy after the unification of Italy. Try the famous cremini, small squares that melt in your mouth: made of four layers of almond paste and hazelnuts, they were invented in 1911 for the launch of the Fiat Tipo 4. Another chocolate delight: tortellino, dark, milk or white, with a creamy filling.
