Sanctuary preserving some precious paintings of masters and a small annex museum.

Outside Savona, in the hills of the hinterland, dedicated to the Madonna of Mercy, patron saint of the town, the sanctuary was founded in 1536 to celebrate an apparition of the Virgin Mary. The architectural ensemble, comprising the basilica and its forecourt with its beautiful central fountain, is striking for its perfect balance of form and proportion. Some precious paintings by masters are preserved inside the church, and fine objects are on display in the small adjoining museum.
