Church preserving an intact gothic-romanic structure in Albénga.
Built in the 12th century on top of a 4th-century Paleochristian basilica, the cathedral's Gothic-Romanesque structure remains intact despite recent renovation. A magnificent campanile dating from 1395, together with the town hall tower, form the trilogy of justice, government and prayer towers. The interior retains remnants of the4th-century tiling, and beneath the presbytery is a Carolingian crypt. Several works of art are preserved inside, the most spectacular of which is the great Serassi organ, built between 1838 and 1840.

Very dark
In the evening it is dificult to see the ceiling. The architecture and the grey stone is impressive but most of the art masterpiece are in the diocesan museum
The best at Albenga and around
