CIVICO MUSEO D'ANTICHITÀ WINCKELMANN

Right next to the cathedral, the archaeological museum gathers finds from the area and displays collections of objects from Roman, Greek, Cypriot, Etruscan and Egyptian antiquity. A section is dedicated to the Maya. Around the museum, the lapidary garden offers a bucolic stroll between Roman statues and medieval sculptures, around a neoclassical cenotaph in memory of the archaeologist and art historian Winckelmann, murdered in Trieste in 1768.
