Matagi is one of Fiji's few private islands, and has been accessible since the opening of the Matangi Private Island Resort. This 97-hectare island is unique in that it is shaped like a horseshoe, and once you're there, you'll think you're very lucky indeed... Matagi is home to a multitude of birds, including the famous Orange Dove. If you get bored on the island (which is unlikely, given the range of water sports available), Taveuni is easily reached by boat. It's easy to set off for the day to explore the Lavana Walk or the Tavoro Waterfalls, located not far from the Taveuni pier.
