Lost inland, this is one of the few villages where the architecture is still traditional. Created in the 1960s to showcase Fijian society, the village is made up of bures built from wood, bamboo and lime. Floors are generally made of clay and coconut leaf mats. The site, though touristy, is still authentic. If you're venturing out on your own, there are a few rules to remember when visiting a Fijian village: buy a gift for the village chief (500 g of kava , for example) and make a financial contribution to village life.
