Fort built during the Gold Coast era by the Dutch at Sekondi, a site steeped in history, worth a visit.
The construction of Fort Orange de Sekondi (Fort Oranje in Dutch) dates back to the days of the Dutch Gold Coast. Inaugurated in 1642 and used as a transit point for slaves during the slave trade, the fort was enlarged several times. Filled with history, it is now open to visitors. It's worth climbing up to enjoy the panoramic view over the city. Like a number of other forts on the Ghanaian coast, Fort Orange has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
