Historic distillery, Ireland's oldest, withmachinery, stills and accessories.

This distillery is known to be the oldest one in Ireland; indeed, its licence dates back to 1757! Still in activity, despite difficulties during the economic recession and the closing of the American market during prohibition, Kilbeggan opens today a part of its distillery to the visitors. Several machines, stills and accessories, dating from the 19th century, are on display. A guide explains the history of Kilbeggan and the process of making this legendary Irish whiskey, from the grinding of the grain to the casking.

Visite très intéressante d'une distillerie très ancienne qui a été rénovée dans les années 80. On y apprend comment est fait le Whisky et on a le droit à 3 dégustations de différents whiskys. On peut même garder le petit verre !
Le restaurant de la distillerie est un peu cher mais les plats sont très bons et sont servis assez rapidement.
