Remarkable castle, Ireland's most photographed, a charmingresidence on the estuary of Kinvara Bay.
Dunguaire is probably the most photographed castle in Ireland! This 16th century residence is located in the estuary of Kinvara Bay. Built in 1520 by the Hynes clan, the castle became the property of the Mayor of Galway, Richard Martyn in the 17th century. It was then bought by Oliver St John's Gogarty and became a meeting place for revivalist writers such as William Butler Yeats, Lady Gregory and George Bernard Shaw. In 1954, the castle was acquired by Christobel Lady Athmill, who completed the restoration work begun by Oliver St John's Gogarty.

Nous avons fait un arrêt à Kinvara pour voir le château de Dunguaire avant de nous rendre aux Falaises de Moher. C'était un matin brumeux ce qui a donné un côté très mystérieux à l'endroit.

Halte lors d'un tour guidé sur le Plateau de Burren. Très joli château, je suis cependant ressortit un peu frustrée de l'expérience, car le château de se visite pas de l'intérieur...
