FOIRE AUX ÂNES

A typical village in the heart of the Pays d'Auge, 15 kilometres from Lisieux and very close to the zoological park of Cerza, Moyaux deserves a very wide detour. The only one of its kind in Lower Normandy, the Donkey Fair takes place here on the third Saturday of March. The setting is picturesque: donkeys and stalls are set up in the central square surrounded by timber-framed houses. The church bell tower, curiously inclined, dominates the demonstration. Several contests punctuate the day with a farmer's market and tastings of local products. Craftsmen and old tradesmen are also involved. It's warm, rural as we like it. A manifestation rooted in its lands that retains a beautiful identity and attachment to a domestic animal inseparable from man, large or small. The 25th edition is in 2020!
