Things to see and do Adare

A beautiful residence of the th century neo-Gothic Gothic. It was recently transformed into a luxury hotel with a golf course, where the former Franciscan abbey in Adare is Found.

The only Trinitarien monastery in Ireland, it was founded in 1230. 

The Franciscan Abbey was founded in 1464 by Thomas FitzMorris, seventh Earl of Kildare. The ruins, lost in the middle of the golf course at Adare Manoir, are no longer known.

The Augustinian priory was founded in 1316 by the first Earl of Kildare, John FitzThomas FitzGerald, and closed under Henry VIII. In 1807, the church of the priory was given to the Egilse of Ireland, and then in 1814 the dining was transformed into a school.
