Hotel offering spacious, plush rooms overlooking St Stephen's Park, for a luxurious stay in the city center.
This luxury hotel is housed in a house dating back to 1824 which has since been restored to its original charm. It is the home of wealthy Irish and international visitors. It was here that the first Constitution of a free Ireland was written in 1922. Most rooms and suites overlook St Stephen's Green. All are spacious, plush (marble, gilding, period furniture...) and carefully equipped: soft bed, flat screen, telephone, wi-fi connection, DVD player. For a luxurious stay in the heart of the city.

Not a 5 star experience by any stretch of the imagination. I genuinely don’t think this hotel should have 5 stars after our visit, we certainly didn’t experience a 5 star stay and I can’t help but feel that they are clinging on to their rating by trading on their past history, whoever is in charge is letting so many standards slip that a downgrade feels inevitable. Guests are made to pay a deposit upon checking in for extras that they may or may not using during their stay, I have certainly never had this before in a 5 star hotel. Small, badly laid out rooms with poor toiletries in them. Terrible service from bar staff who told me they had done last orders at 10.45 pm! The bar is listed on the website and outside of its door as open until 12.30 am. The one drink I had earlier in the day would have tasted better out of a can. I really felt like I wasn’t welcome in the bar. Breakfast is a buffet style with many items missing or running out with them not being replaced during our time in the breakfast area. On both mornings we were forgotten about by wait staff and had to ask again for the most basic of things that should be brought straight to your table. I’ve had better in pretty much every hotel whether it’s 5 star or not that I’ve stayed in however most aren’t buffets that you have to serve to yourself. The piece de resistance was the curdling milk and cream on a hot radiator where we had to make ourselves a cup of tea in a paper cup because they couldn’t seat us for breakfast when we went down in the morning. Over hyped and over priced for what they are offering their guests. Very very disappointing and I will be telling everyone about our stay. We will never be back. I would love an explanation from the hotel as to how these happened but all I will get is a generic response that they will try harder. I’m sorry but that is not any comfort to us after paying highly for the poor service and experience we had. WE WILL NEVER BE BACK!

We stayed at the signature suite for 4 nights, the view was fantastic! Gym was compact but they did have everything. My youngest enjoyed the pool, though there was no room to hang out per se. Amanda at the horseshoe bar was very acknowledgeable. We booked this a year ago for Christmas time but had to postpone for personal reasons, which was a shame because I heard Christmas at the Shelbourne would have been magical. Nonetheless it was very good of them to let us change to a later date. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful. The only thing is, next time when we stay at the same suite I would ask for a higher floor (we are on the 4th floor) because the people upstairs were stomping around till late night. We understand it comes with the territory when one stays at a historical hotel. Overall, it was a great experience, and we hope to repeat during Christmas time!

The ambience is lovely but the contents of the afternoon are terribly poor. Too much sugar, nothing you won’t find at Tesco, and even then Tesco quality must be better. The sandwiches are extremely small and unoriginal. Almost nothing was delicious, the tea is dusty and the staff too busy to show any warmth.
The best at Dublin and around
