A classic in Växjö, Ox-grillen has been serving burgers to the locals for many years. The little place is located in the middle of the square, right in front of the SF cinema. You can order burgers or falafel, either in the dining room or to go. The menus cost between 50 and 70 Sek with drink and fries. Nothing exceptional but very practical to eat cheap and on the go. It works just as well for those who just want a hot dog for a snack, or those who are really hungry. Try their sauces which are incredibly good.

Perfect to eat an ice cream or drink a tea on the terrace, almost with your feet in the water of the lake. There are sandwiches and a wide range of pastries including a wonderful carrot cake(morotskaka). What distinguishes the Café Fontaine is that it is managed by non-profit associations. Thus, it is also a cultural and associative space that gathers the locals around musical and artistic events. The establishment also offers very nice storytelling evenings (for those who understand Swedish!).
