Read moreSäve Airport is an international airport located 14 km from the center of Gothenburg, in Hisingen. It opened in 1940 as a military airbase. The military wing closed in 1969, and in 1976 the airport opened to civilians and general aviation. In 1984, work was carried out and the airport's runway was extended by 400 meters. Until 2015, low cost companies operated from this airport (Ryanair, Wizzair...). Although now closed, the airport is still open to smaller aircraft.

If you are coming from Oslo, Malmö, Karlstad or Stockholm, follow the signs to Göteborg Landvetter Airport as you approach Göteborg. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get from the center of Gothenburg to the airport, and there are shuttle buses to make the trip.
