For three centuries, the iron ore was mined from the mines of Dannemora and then moved to the bruk, or villages of forge near forests and water points necessary for metal shaping and work. Blacksmiths were recruited in Wallonia. Nowadays, iron extraction and hammers have stopped. Exhibitions are now dedicated to those who have worked the metals and the techniques of the forge. To go by car, take Highway 290 exit Uppsala. Ask for the brochure Vallonbruck in Uppland at the Tourist Office.
