The small kingdom of Kandi was born out of the threat posed to the region by Fulani and especially Dendi warriors who, in the 16th century, arrived from the north through the Niger valley and ransomed the population. Tired of these attacks, the inhabitants of the region asked for the protection of the kingdom of Nikki. And so, following an expedition, E. Saka Bakou, son of the king of Nikki, finally settled in Kandi. Today, the kingdom is still under the authority of Nikki. In Kandi, we enter an arid and dry area, a prelude to the Sahelian landscapes. The city does not have much to offer, but it is a pleasant place to explore the surroundings.
