Emblematic establishment of the country's history, the period of the Ivorian miracle in the darkest hours of the crisis, Hotel Ivoire (sorry: Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire, or Sofitel Ivory to do shorter), built in 1963 (for the main building: The tower will be inaugurated in 1969) by the Roumano-Israeli architect Moshe Mayer, has experienced many vicissitudes before resuming his old old testament, which has given him time to be among the most beautiful hotels in the world. Even the most blasted travelers and guests of the major luxury hotels recognize this: The Ivory Coast is something, however. From the lobby, you feel like you're caught in another universe: monumentalism and heights with vertiginous ceilings, styled decor mixing ultra-precise and angular contemporary lines with colorful heat and the generous exuberance of African craftsmen. And then an exceptional setting, on this corniche overlooking the lagoon, with a breathtaking view of the plateau, the skyline of the Plateau. Each area of the hotel expresses its own personality: the Cocoa Lounge, perched above the swimming pool, high-profile bar-design options on the left or small alanguis parlors on the right; the chiquissim Link Bar with its glass bay overlooking the immense turquoise pool; Gourmanliness, restaurant feet in the water with lush buffets and gargantuan brunchs; The Pavillon, which revisits African and Ivorian cuisine classics for a tasting with Afro-modern flavors; The Golden Elephant, a superb gourmet restaurant in the hotel's casino with Mediterranean flavors; The Roof of Abidjan on the 23 rd floor of the Tower, a high-flown culinary stop - literally as a figure - which is distinguished by its refined and refined atmosphere; The Oasis Pool Bar of the pool with its orange dress code, where it makes so good sunshine on Sunday if you could not take the key to Assinie or Grand Bassam; the So Spa, beautifully decorated by the plastician artist Valérie Oka and auréolé of the prestigious World Luxury Spa Awards 2017 in three categories; the art gallery linking the tower to the building; Majestic cinema and shops; The rooms finally, where on the walls with acidulous and perfectly harmonized colors invite reproductions of the Earth view from the sky of Yann Arthus Bertrand, a judicious glance at the breathtaking panorama of the windows with the astonishing sight of the visitor. Outside the decor, Sofitel bedding to blend well, optimized space, modern and well-arranged rooms, renovated and equipped with all comfort and even more. To make the most of the hotel's potential, opt for superior rooms, with the «first rates» offering a somewhat small space. Finally, to the extent possible, choose a room overlooking the lagoon, the highest one if you are not subject to the verge. More: freshly milled coffee, cocoa-based cocktails and homemade teas offered to Cocoa Lounge and served in an impeccable ballet by elegant and stylish bar bar; the location of the establishment, which, in particular, makes it a privileged point of view to attend sunsets, falling between the towers of the Plateau; service, both conscientious, discreet and ultra-professional; the huge swimming pool, accessible even at night. The least: the swimming pool, which shows in this very high level and seems to be sinking a little at the level of maintenance (damage with such potential); The price of the ancillary services and meals, quite high while the prices of the rooms are rather attractive for a hotel of this standing. In any case, a mythical and exceptional address.
