AL-DHAID OASIS

After crossing the desert from Sharjah or crossing the desert mountains from Fujairah, the Al-Dhaïd oasis appears in all its lush splendour. It is currently suffering from a lack of water and conflicts of use between current consumption and irrigation needs. Although its lush green appearance is less pronounced today than it was decades ago, it remains, as it is, a major feature in an arid environment. Many fruits and vegetables are grown in Al-Dhaïd today, including strawberries.
