KANAD HOSPITAL

The founders of Kanad Hospital (formerly known as Oasis), Christian missionaries Dr. Pat and Marian Kennedy, first arrived in Al Ain in November 1960 at the invitation of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his brother Sheikh Shakhbut. The infant and maternal mortality rate in Al Ain was exceptionally high. Due to endemic diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria, Al Ain's population was declining and in desperate need of quality health care. In 2006, the hospital was rebuilt.
