BOGDANA MONASTERY
It was founded in 1365 by Bogdan I, the voivode who centralized the Moldovan state. Its church, dedicated to Saint Nicholas, is the oldest stone church in Moldova. Its form has remained unchanged over six centuries. The interior paintings still visible date from the 15th century. The building also houses the first princely necropolis in Moldova, containing the tombs of seven Moldavian princes, including the famous Bogdan. The creation of the monastery played a decisive role in the development of the locality. Today it is its main attraction.
