Statue commemorating Christopher Columbus' stay in Saint Ann in 1503, during his fourth voyage to the Americas.
A modest statue perpetuates the memory of Christopher Columbus' stay here, at the western exit of the city on a small traffic circle and in front of a hedge of bougainvillea. At its feet, a commemorative plaque. It was here that he ran aground with his two caravels when he arrived on the island - the Capitana and the Santiago de Palos - in 1503, on his fourth voyage to the Americas. Remaining with his crew for a year in St. Ann's Bay, Columbus renamed the town Santa Gloria.
