Long Bay is undoubtedly the most beautiful beach on Jamaica's east coast. It stretches for almost 1.6 km and offers a landscape of coconut palms swaying over fine white sand and a turquoise lagoon. While it's a favorite with surfers for its easterly winds, it can also be dangerous. For children and on days with strong currents, it's best to splash around in the small natural pools near the rocks. It is sparsely developed and runs alongside the main road. Numerous abandoned stalls line it, but there are a few shops to the north.
