Just half way between Ngozi and Gitega, 42 km from both, Mutaho was one of the most important trading centres in the region. Today, as in an open-air museum, we can see the damage caused by war. Around the main square and its surroundings, the houses of the explosion, without roofs and half destroyed, are still visible in high grasses. Later, one or two kilometres from there, the small dwellings of displaced persons, who have regrouped in the distance to protect themselves, forming a new town, have been closed up. It will never be enough to stress how much the spectacular spatial rail to which armed conflicts lead hangs over the management of the war. Mutaho and its region are a poignant example.
