From Valença to Bom Despacho: half a dozen buses a day (viação Cidade Sol), on the island of Itaparica, from where you can take the ferry to Salvador. It takes about 2 hours to get to Bom Despacho.

From Bom Despacho to Salvador (São Joaquim maritime terminal), count 45 minutes of crossing.

To the south: two buses per day to Porto Seguro, about 12 hours. You can stop before, in Itacaré.

For trips to or from Salvador, taking the ferry loses time. You have to take this into account for the "connections".
