BEACHES

The area around Kuta is full of superb, secluded beaches. We have selected just a few:

Kuta Beach. In the heart of town, with accommodation and restaurants. Very pleasant. Not the most beautiful beach in the region, somewhat denatured by the rapid expansion of the city, but the view over the bay is nevertheless pleasant for a drink at the end of the day without going too far.

Pantai Nutri Nyale. This is the Novotel beach, 3 km from the town center. But at low tide, the sea retreats and you can't swim here...

Pantai Seger. Ideal for surfing, but not for swimming because of the currents. Drinks are available from makeshift stalls. Beautiful sunset from an adjacent hill.

Tanjung Aan. 7 km east of Kuta Beach. Two superb white-sand bays (A'an and Pedau), perfect for swimming and snorkeling. You'll find small stalls for drinks and fried rice, and two restaurants to the west.

Mawun. 8 km west of Kuta Beach. A superb spot with crystal-clear water. Ideal for strolling, swimming and surfing. A few stalls for a drink.

Selong Belanak. 12 km west of Kuta Beach, a heavenly bay, far from everything. One of the most beautiful beaches in the area, without a doubt.

Pink Beach at the eastern end of the island is one of the most popular for its sunsets and pinkish sand. For more contrast, you'll want to find a high vantage point.

Tampah Beach. A superb, quiet beach. Food and drink available on site.
