Visit Kusamba to learn more about the harvesting of fleur de sel, one of the world's finest and highest-quality products
Along the beach, you'll see salt huts, and large prahu (outrigger boats) that can hold over a ton of merchandise. The salt workers spread out wet sand, dry it and then scrape out the salt. They then place it in a large container, add salt water and dry it in hollowed-out half coconut trunks until crystals appear. The fleur de sel harvested is of excellent quality, among the best in the world.
