The time difference is as follows: minus 1 hour between France and Morocco in summer (for example, when it's midday in Paris, it's 11am in Marrakech), minus 2 hours between the two countries in winter. In general, museums are open in the morning (from 9:00 or 9:30 am) and in the afternoon, every day of the week. Some museums close on Sundays or Wednesdays. They close at 6 p.m., with last admission at around 5.30 p.m. Admission for foreign visitors is 70 DH for most of them. In high season, it's best to visit in the morning, as soon as it opens, to take advantage of the quiet. The gardens, with the exception of Majorelle and the Secret Garden, are accessible free of charge.

Enjoying yourself Marrakech

Most establishments open for lunch from 12pm to 3pm, and in the evening from 7pm to 11pm. But it all depends on their category. As the city is very touristy, many of them are open all week long.

Take a break Marrakech

Happy hour is a worldwide phenomenon that has also spread to Morocco, and is usually found in hotel bars where alcohol is served. Between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, you can enjoy a free drink or half-price cocktails. Don't hesitate to ask if it's not advertised.

Get out Marrakech

If you're planning a night out in a nightclub, don't arrive too early - the atmosphere doesn't start until midnight. Moroccan youth like to change venue and atmosphere when out with a group. For example, start in a bar for an aperitif, then go for dinner somewhere, before having another drink in a chicha bar, try your luck in the casino, and finally end up in a club to dance to the sound of the DJ. You can even have a hearty breakfast at dawn to round off the evening in style. Some cafés in Hivernage have understood this and open their doors at dawn to meet this demand. Expect to line up at some of the more festive venues on Saturday evenings.
