CATHEDRAL OF SPEYER
An important cathedral with a façade of light-colored stones streaked with pinkish stones and beautiful Romanesque arches in Speyer.
His official name is Domkirche St. Maria und St. Stephan (Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption-et-Saint-Etienne Cathedral). Classified in 1981 by UNESCO as a "universal cultural heritage", it is called one of the most important Romanesque buildings in Germany. Its facade of clear stone-striped stone stones, its beautiful Romanesque arcades, its height makes it a pretty impressive monument. It was the Emperor Conrad II that took the initiative of its construction in 1030. Completed in 1061, it remained in proportions until 1689, when a large fire and subsequent looting ravaged a large part of it, saving only crypt and chore.
