ALTES RATHAUS

The Old Town Hall is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city center. Dating from the ^18th century, it was built in response to the wish of Elector Clemens-August. Its pastel pink and blue facade adds a cheerful touch to the market square. It's on the beautiful black wrought-iron staircase of the old town hall that, since 1949, all the Presidents of the Republic have made their first public appearance, and that many distinguished guests have delivered speeches (General de Gaulle, Gorbachev, etc.).
