KÖNIGSALLEE (KÖ')
The site includes major companies, banks, luxury and haute couture stores and a pleasantly shaded park.
It's the city's main thoroughfare, or at least its best-selling one. And with good reason: on the left bank, these German Champs-Elysées are home to major companies and banks, and on the right bank to a succession of luxury stores, especially haute couture (let's not forget that Düsseldorf is a capital in this field). In the 19th century, it was still known as "Chestnut Alley". Then, in 1848, a king ("könig" Frederick William IV, not to mention him) passed through here... To the north, the Kö ends in the Hofgarten, a pleasant park.
