EMPEROR WILLIAM I MONUMENT
Bronze equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm in historicist style, a few meters from the Bismarck monument.
Just a few meters from the Bismarck monument stands the bronze equestrian statue of Emperor Wilhelm I, in the historicist (or, to be more precise, neo-baroque) style, unveiled in 1896 to honor the founder of the German Empire. It is the work of sculptor Karl Janssen, a professor at the city's Academy of Fine Arts. The emperor wears a feathered helmet and rides a horse at full speed. On his flanks, two allegorical figures of peace and war.
