A museum featuring some very fine sections of ancient art, such as mosaics and sculptures, as well as a collection of porcelain.

The Landesmuseum, located in the extraordinary area that includes the Aula Palatina and the castle of the prince-electors, combines Roman stone and glass walls among small green hills. Opposite the entrance, a staircase leads to a promontory that offers a beautiful view of the princely gardens. The interior is striking in its organization of space. Beautifully white passageways lead to the lower floor. The total archaeological excavations here were extremely rich. One can thus admire pieces of a rare beauty, among which the mosaic of Bacchus, almost intact, and the mosaics of the palace of the procurator (dating from the year 200 approximately). Among the sculptures, the famous boat found in Remagen is the first known representation of a load of wine, and testifies to the importance of viticulture in the region. In addition to this beautiful section devoted to antiquity, the museum also has an interesting collection of porcelain.

Incroyable monument
