DOMPLATZ

On the Domplatz, near St. Peter's Church, there are several interesting elements to observe. First, the grass of the square is dotted with 39 white cubes, reminiscent of the location of the former pillars of Hamburg's Catholic cathedral dedicated to Mary (alter Mariendom), which was demolished in the early 19th century. The headquarters of the newspaper Die Zeit, founded in Hamburg in 1946, is also located on this square in a brick building. Finally, in the bakery Dat Backhus, in the basement, you can see the remains of the old fortifications.
