CIMETIÈRE D'OHLSDORF

One need only glance at a map to get an idea of the colossal size of this cemetery. It is simply the largest park cemetery in the world: nearly 235,000 graves, spread over 391 hectares. You can walk through the wide alleys and meet here and there squirrels, ducks or even geese! Among the celebrities buried here, there is the former chancellor Helmut Schmidt. Several memorials pay tribute to the victims of the 1943 bombings, those of the great flood of 1962 or to soldiers who fell during the wars.
