The anniversary of the Port of Hamburg is celebrated every year with a variety of concerts, shows and parades.

Hamburg owes its prosperity to its maritime history, with nearly 100,000 jobs today depending directly or indirectly on port activities. No surprise then that the people of Hamburg celebrate the anniversary of their port with pride! Every year, there are stands, concerts, maritime parades, sailing races and "dragon boats" on the Elbe. The latter, boats dressed as dragons, are picturesque: an event not to be missed.
