FRÜHLINGSDOM

The Dom festival dates back to the 14th century, when merchants settled around the cathedral(Dom in German) for fairs. When the cathedral was destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century, the fairgoers were given new space on the Heiligengeistfeld. The "Dom" has disappeared, but the name has remained. Stalls, markets, music, amusements, rides: about 260 exhibitors and entertainers on 160,000 square meters of space on the Heiligenfestfeld in Sankt-Pauli, a large square designed for this purpose.
