The Hamburg International Queer Film Festival is the largest LGBTQ film festival in Germany, attracting 15,000 people.
This film festival, founded in 1989 by students at the University of Hamburg, shows LGBTQ feature films and organizes discussions and workshops on the themes raised by the films. What began as a university course on the topic of "homosexuality in film" is now one of the city's largest film festivals and the largest LGBTQ film festival in Germany. It attracts 15,000 people every year.
