MUSEUM PANORAMA
An incredible project inaugurated in 1989 by the GDR regime: at the top of the hill where the last battle of the peasant war took place, a gigantic panorama was built. It is a vast monument to a circular painting, entitled «Early Citizen Revolution in Germany» (1983-87). This represents the battle lost by Thomas Müntzer and his peasants, to serve as a memorial to this tragic defeat cherished by Communist leaders'ideological scheme. The monumental painting of the artist Werner Tübke is 14 m long and 123 m long, and when you stand in the middle of the room, you really feel like being at the heart of the battle, the optical effect is fully successful. The Panorama Museum also allows for other works that meet the same optical principles, De and other artists. A detour to make!
